Cavalier Basketball Teams Sweep Senior Night Tripleheader

In front of the largest crowd of the season in the John J. Altobello Sports Complex, the De La Salle Cavalier Basketball Program swept a three game set versus Miller McCoy Academy and St. Marys Academy.
The boys JV team opened the evening with a thrilling come from behind overtime victory over Miller McCoy.  The boys varsity team then followed with an equally exciting 50-47 victory over the visiting Lions.  This game was largely decided in the third quarter when the Cavaliers erased an eight point halftime deficit to end the third quarter up by ten points.  This eighteen point turnaround was aided by tenacious defense, a raucous crowd and a torrid Luke Kelly on offense.

The final game provided the only one sided affair of the evening.  Boosted by a 13-2 first quarter, the Lady Cavaliers never looked back, stretching their lead to twenty points at times, defeating the Cougars of St. Marys Academy by a score of 46-29.  This victory clinched the District 10-3A title for the Lady Cavaliers.

Tuesday night was also senior night for all of the Cavaliers winter sports teams.  Seniors from both the boys and girls basketball and soccer teams were honored throughout the evening.

This championship clinching evening was completed by a championship caliber crowd.  The crowd was loud and large the entire evening, including during the exciting overtime JV boys game.

The boys varsity team returns to action on Thursday in a rare road game in its home gym versus John McDonogh.  All Sports and Basketball Season Passes will be honored for admission to this game.  Tip off versus the Trojans is scheduled for 6:00 PM.

The Lady Cavaliers end their regular season on Friday at Xavier Prep.  Tip off versus the Yellow Jackets is slated for 4:00 PM.
