De La Salle students place well at Foreign Language Festival competition

DLS-Foreign-Lang.-WinnersAt the recent Foreign Language Festival held at Southeastern Louisiana University, De La Salle students placed in 10 categories.

Three students placed in French:  Madison Schumacher was 3rd in French Prose IV, Ana Kushnir was 3rd in French Poetry II, and Daniel Pinzon took 2nd in French Poetry III.  They are taught by Martine Gravel.

In Spanish, two seniors placed in Spanish IV:  Hannah Johnson Wilson took 3rd in Spanish Prose IV and native French speaker Quentin Castagné took 2nd in Spanish Extemporaneous Speaking IV.

In Spanish II, Emily Lissarrague placed 2nd in Spanish Poetry and Melissa Mann took 1st in Spanish Extemporaneous Speaking.

Two native Spanish speakers placed in their categories.  Amalia López was 2nd in Spanish Prose and Joshua Pagan took 3rd in Spanish Poetry.

Also, Amalia López and Emily Lissarrague placed 3rd in Music.  The girls sang “Corre, corre” (“Run, run”) by the brothers Jesse y Joy.

De La Salle students Hannah Johnson Wilson and Rachel Nuñez also sang the National Anthem at the event.

The Spanish students are taught by Ana Palacios, who accompanied them on the trip.
