The De La Salle basketball program made its per sense known on Tuesday evening on the Fortier Campus of Lusher Charter School. The Cavaliers swept a four game set versus the Lions.
The first two games of the day were controlled by the Cavaliers with little resistance provided by the host. The boys junior high boys team opened by winning the first game by a score of 53-23.
The Lady Cavaliers followed suit taming the Lady Lions by a score of 39-18.
The final two games of the evening were much closer and not decided until the final minutes. The Lions led both games at the half by small margins. However, both the Cavalier Boys JV and Varsity teams completed their comebacks in the second half. The final score of the JV game was 32-26. The Cavaliers Varsity Hoopsters avenged two previous nailbiting losses to the Lions with a victory by the score of 35-28.
The varsity game was extremely tight for the first 30 minutes with neither team leading by more than six points. The Cavaliers were able to knock down some clutch free throws by Anthony Thomas, Luke Kelly, and Lawrence Allen in the final two minutes to extend their lead to 10 points before the Lions hit an inconsequential three as the final buzzer went off. The Cavalier free throws followed a cold spell at the foul line that saw the Cavaliers miss their previous seven free throw attempts.
The game featured tenacious defense by both teams that did not allow for any easy looks for either offense.
Both the Lady Cav and Cavalier varsity teams return to action versus Eleanor McMain on Thursday at Warren Easton on Thursday. The girls game is se to tip off at 6:00 PM and the boys game will begin 15 minutes following the end of the girls game.
The Cavaliers Junior High team returns to action on Saturday in the John J. Altobello Sports Complex, as De La Salle takes its turn hosting the Catholic Junior High Basketball League, games will begin at 9:00 AM.

Seniors on both Cavalier soccer teams will be honored during half time of the girls varsity game. We do not have any Wrestling seniors this year, so there will not be any wrestlers honored on Tuesday.
