NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Sports continues its live video streaming coverage of Louisiana high school football playoff action Friday night with a Division II quarterfinal matchup between De La Salle and Archbishop Hannan.
The live stream begins at 6:50 p.m. with kickoff at 7 from Hawk Field in Covington. Lenny Vangilder and Lonn Ellzey will describe the action.
In what figures to be one of the most intriguing matchups in southeast Louisiana on the second weekend of playoff action, the fifth-seeded Cavaliers (7-3) have a road game in the playoffs for the first time in four years as they take on the fourth-seeded and undefeated Hawks (11-0), who went undefeated in the regular season for the first time in school history.
A year ago, the teams met in the quarterfinals at Pan American Stadium, with De La Salle winning 52-14 en route to its first state championship game appearance in 56 years. Before that, the Cavaliers and Hawks met in the regular season in 2013 and 2014, with each winning on the road.
The schools share a bond as two of only five co-ed Catholic high schools within the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Friday’s winner advances to the Division II semifinals against the winner of the quarterfinal matchup between St. Louis and University Lab. The De La Salle-Hannan winner would travel to U-High and host St. Louis.
Crescent City Sports will feature live streaming of no fewer than 30 high school sporting events throughout the 2018-19 school year. Additionally, in cooperation with Cox Sports Television, CCS will also produce up to 10 more events that will both be televised on CST and streamed on the site.
