The Cavalier Baseball Team will open the LHSAA Class 3A playoffs about as far from home as possible. The Cavaliers, champions of District 10-3A will travel five and a half hours to Stonewall, LA to take on the North DeSoto Griffins on Friday at 5:30 PM. The Griffins are the top seed in 3A, while the Cavaliers are seeded thirty-second.
This trip to north Louisiana marks the third such trip this school year for a Cavalier athletic team in the LHSAA playoffs. The football team traveled north of Monroe to Farmerville in November and the Cavalier boys basketball team made the trek to Richwood, just south of Monroe in late February.
The Cavaliers last faced the Griffins in the bi-district round of the LHSAA Class 3A playoffs in 2008. The Griffins defeated the Cavaliers at Kirsch Rooney Stadium and went on to advance to the semi-finals before seeing their season come to an end.
